the deep democracy movement

In 1988, Arnold Mindell coined the term Deep Democracy to describe the principle behind a community building process that hears all voices and roles, including our collective experiences of altered states, and subtle feelings and tendencies. It is a principle that makes space for the speakable, the barely speakable and the unspeakable. Within just two decades, the concept of Deep Democracy has been picked up by many politicians, including Ralph Nader and Hillary Clinton, as well as by a variety of communities, grass root movements, and other authors.

This website is available for the Deep Democracy Movement. It is meant as a canvas for anyone who feels moved to help paint a new picture of our democratic future on this planet. It is also meant as a hub for the Deep Democracy Network, connecting people and ideas. In the spirit of Deep Democracy, this website is presented as a beginning suggestion that we hope will be altered and changed by your input and ideas.
